Introduction
Khane mein kya hai? ("the App") is a daily Indian meal suggestion app for Android developed and operated as an independent project. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App uses, how it is stored, and what third-party services are involved.
The App does not require registration or an account of any kind. All personalisation — your meal preferences, dietary settings, notification times, and suggestion history — is stored exclusively on your device.
Data Stored on Your Device
The App saves the following information in your device's local IndexedDB storage and localStorage. None of this data is ever uploaded to a server or shared with us.

You can erase all of this data at any time from Settings → Clear All Data. Uninstalling the App also removes it permanently.
Data We Do Not Collect
The App contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting service, and no backend of any kind. The following are never collected or transmitted:
- Name, email address, phone number, or any contact details
- Location or GPS data
- Device model, OS version, or hardware identifiers
- Usage statistics, session length, or screen views
- Crash reports or error logs sent to any external server
- Microphone, camera, or contacts
- Any form of behavioural or cross-app tracking
Notifications
The App can send meal-reminder notifications (e.g., "Time to think about lunch!"). These are local notifications scheduled entirely on your device using Android's notification system. No notification data is sent to or processed by any external server.
On Android 13 and above, the App will ask for your permission before sending notifications. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device's Settings → Apps → Khane mein kya hai? → Notifications.
Advertising — Google AdMob
The App displays a single banner advertisement on the Today screen, served by Google AdMob. AdMob is operated by Google LLC and may use your device's Advertising ID to serve relevant ads and measure ad performance.
The App requests the AD_ID (Advertising ID) permission on Android solely
to enable AdMob to function. This identifier is managed by Google, not by us. We do not
read, store, or transmit the Advertising ID ourselves.
- Google may collect ad interaction data (impressions, taps) as described in their own policies
- You can reset or opt out of personalised ads in Android Settings → Google → Ads
- Ads are shown only on the Today screen; no ads appear on the Meals or Settings screens

Meal Sharing
The App includes an optional Share button that lets you share today's meal suggestion (meal name and type) via WhatsApp or your device's share sheet. This action is entirely user-initiated — the App never shares anything automatically.
The shared content contains only the meal name and meal type (e.g., "Having Masoor Dal for Lunch today!"). No personal preferences, history, or device data is included in the shared message.
Google Fonts
The App's interface uses the Inter typeface loaded from the
Google Fonts CDN (fonts.googleapis.com). When the App loads for the
first time with an internet connection, your device makes a standard HTTPS request
to Google's servers to download this font file.
Google may log the IP address and browser/device information associated with this request as part of their standard server operations. After the initial load, the font is cached by the App's service worker and no further requests are made. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
Android Permissions
The App requests the following Android permissions and uses each only for the stated purpose:
Data Retention & Deletion
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you are in full control of it at all times. You can delete it in the following ways:
- In-app: Go to Settings → Clear All Data to erase all meals, preferences, and history instantly
- Uninstall: Removing the App from your device deletes all associated app data automatically
- System settings: Android Settings → Apps → Khane mein kya hai? → Storage → Clear Data
We hold no copies of your data on any server. Deleting it from your device deletes it permanently — there is no way for us to recover it.
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). Because the App collects no personal information from any user, it does not present specific risks to children's privacy.
However, the App is ad-supported via Google AdMob. If the App is used by a child, parents or guardians are encouraged to review Google's policies on ads and children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's features or applicable regulations. When we do, the revised policy will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of the page.
We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
